Evening Walk

It beckoned me, this light at the end of the orchard.......stepped in, was ushered in, by the trees and the way the grass whispered.....

The last light of the sun touched the grass that whispered to flame......it held the light like magic.

And how can grasses and trees, I wondered, speak with such power?

I needed this walk, it fed my soul and how the light spilled and the mystery of what lay at the end, and what was spoken in between the steps to get there?

Closer, I came......

And then I turned in wonder.....my magical kingdom was only golden light on a brown field, but really, it was so much more.

It was an evening walk and the poetry of a simple orchard that spoke better things than words.....

Wrenny

Since living in Arizona I have come to love the cactus wrens......I call them all "Wrenny"

They are very smart and industrious......always busy, hopping here and there

They even build two nests, one to move into and one as a spare.........I guess to guard against predators

Currently there is a whole Wrenny family in my backyard......I interrupted this one in the middle of his tasks, but he just kept any eye on me and kept on working.

Supermoon

We sat and waited....as if for a dignitary to make an appearance. And then it showed up, bigger than life.

She climbed higher.....no longer blushing.

From further away, she wasn't less astounding.....she still took our breath away.

Then she treated us with her shy reflection.......

Ah! Sunflowers

Ah Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime

Where the travellers journey is done.
Where the Youth pined away with desire,

And the pale virgin shrouded in snow:
Arise from their graves and aspire,

Where my Sun-flower wishes to go.

Ah, Sunflower
William Blake

Thank you, neighbor Bob for letting me shoot your sunflowers....

Shouldn't they be in Canada?

Stopped on my way home from work to take a few shots of these geese and their little ones.....

Mama was definitely watching me, or maybe it was Daddy goose, I don't know enough about geese to know.....

Wish I could pick them up, I can imagine how soft they are.....

I only hope they don't go out in the road, it is way too busy......and anyway, shouldn't they be in Canada already?

Bird's Eye View

Some people would see an ordinary Sparrow, but I see the work of a Master Designer at work.....

I believe this is a Curved-bill Thrasher.......look at all the variations of brown and grey

And of course, a Mourning Dove......with the mate in the background. I never get tired of hearing their little coos
