Spreckels Organ Pavilion

It's funny how I have been to this park several times, but never really seen it.......

As I wandered around with my camera, I saw details I never saw before......

And all over, were the faces that leapt from the plaster walls....

All photos were taken at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in San Diego. The pavilion was donated by John D. and Adolph Spreckels specifically for the Panama-California exposition in 1914. It was built by Harrison Albright, a self taught Architect. This beautiful pavilion houses the 4,530 pipe organ. Since 1917 the City of San Diego has had a civic organist who performs free concerts each Sunday in Balboa Park.
